Keeping the mould at bay

Winter may seem like it’s far away but it’s a good time to prepare for winter and prepare for any mould growth. The main cause of mould growth is moisture and dampness which can have an impact on your health.

Start by looking around your home and seeing what areas are damp. Bathrooms, kitchens, basements and the roof cavity is where mould is often found. Having a ventilation system on your property is the most effective way to prevent mould from growing. A ventilation system circulates fresh air around your home while pollutants are removed before the air flows into your home. This will also remove the damp air from your property.

Keeping your home clean and dry will help reduce the risk of mould growing in your home. Ensuring you clean surfaces with a damp (Not dripping wet) cloth, make sure you have no leaks and install extractor fans in your bathrooms and kitchen.

If you already have mould growing in your home, there are some home remedies you can use to remove it. If it is still coming back after taking precautions, it’s best to contact a professional so they can identify the type of mould and present the best solution to help you have a mould-free home. Your best bet is to install a ventilation system and catch the mould before it starts to grow.
