Upgrading insulation saves time and money

Nights are getting colder and power bills are going up for some kiwis. Now is the time to think about the insulation of your home.

Not having enough insulation in your home can lead to dampness, poor air quality and drafts of cold air in your home. These can have a big negative impact on your health and overall well-being. It also means your house won’t be keeping as much heat in and you’ll need to use more power to keep your home warm.

Insulation doesn’t just keep your home warm. It can also improve the efficiency of your home by not having to use heaters or heat pumps. On top of that, it helps prevent dampness and reduces noise levels.

Warmer Kiwi Homes

30% of Kiwi homes currently suffer from unwanted moisture or dampness. This grant is a government initiative for eligible homeowners to provide financial assistance to those who need solutions for insulation or heat pumps in their homes. You can check your eligibility here. As a registered partner of the grant, all installations done by us are up to all Energy Efficiency Conservation Authority (EECA) standards. You can find out more about the Warmer Kiwi Homes grant here.

If you’re unsure if you need your insulation checked, we have a couple of tips for you to assess and see if it would be beneficial for you.

  1. Mould - This is the first sign of dampness in your home and that your home isn’t properly insulated
  2. Poor air quality - Poor air quality is another result of a lack of insulation
  3. Cold drafts - Feeling a draft of cold air near doors or windows
  4. High energy bills - A home that is well insulated shouldn’t have to use the heating systems as much. Comparing your energy bill from when you first got insulation to now is a good indicator of this. (Take into account the increase in pricing)

Insulation is key to keeping your home warm during winter. We offer free energy assessments and offer options on what you could do to make your home more energy efficient. Get in touch with us today to book an assessment.

Do you know someone who could benefit from getting their insulation checked? We offer a referral program where if a family member or friend gets insulation, a heat pump or an air conditioning unit installed and mentions your name, we’ll give you a $20 petrol voucher to say thanks!
