Full-length, lined curtains are vital in making a home warm so with the onset of winter Healthy Homes is asking for donations of second-hand curtains for Auckland families in need.
Healthy Homes works with families, landlords and property managers to ensure everyone lives in a warm, dry and healthy home and began several years ago as a response to the extremely high rates of rheumatic fever and related illnesses in New Zealand. It has now expanded to working with expecting mums and at risk children.
Auckland Council’s Southern Initiative works with stakeholders to increase the supply of quality curtains for Healthy Homes through curtain banks and Habitat for Humanity.
Curtain banks and Habitat for Humanity’s minor repair service will collect the donated curtains from the drop of points detailed below, clean them, line them if necessary and then install them far and wide to families that meet the criteria.
So, if you have any full-length curtains in good condition (please, no mouldy curtains, blinds or rails) drop them at the following places between July 1 and the end of August.
